my caliper bolt broke when i was trying to change brake pads on pt cruiser… now what?
How To Change Brake Pads June 11th, 2009one of the two caliper bolts (the larger ones) broke in half when i was changing Brake Pads, am i out of luck? do i need a new caliper or can it be drilled out? the other of the two is also seized up in there and wont budge no matter what i do.
Have it towed to a qualified repair shop. Unless you have experiance dealing with drilling and extracting broken and or crossed threaded and broken bolt. Your best bet is to have a pro do it. Or you can buy a new mounting knuckle/ hub when the extracting goes bad.
Are brake checks usually free? What is a good price to change brake pads?

Gotta torch? Try a little heat. Once you get them out put a little grease or anti seize on the threads. If there broke off even with the threaded hole you will need a ease out, a drill with the right size bit and a torch. On the other bolts use penetrating oil and allow them to sit a while. You may still need some heat to help with the process.
