Ceramic Brake pads on 2001 Maxima?

Advanced Auto sold me a pricey set of Weaver Ceramic pads- said they are what are called for in a Maxima- less noise, less heat and better braking performance but harder on the rotors. I didn’t install yet- cost $58 for the front set. Should I use them or return and buy semi-metallics? Any special break in procedure or experiences with these pads? I also bought new rotors.

The only reason to really get ceramic pads is to "reduce" brake dust on your rims so it really doesnt matter.

do ceramic brake pads work as well cold ,as they do hot,?

if we mainly do short ,less that 5 miles , drives are ceramic pads worth the ex money ,

I don’t have any idea where the person above is getting his information but virtually every new car today comes with ceramic material Brake Pads. Metallic and semi-metallic pads leave a dirty red / brown film of dust and dirt on aluminum wheels and tires. Not to mention the way they chew the dog meat off the friction surfaces of brake rotors. Metallic pads are noisy also. Go to every new car dealership parts counter in town and ask what the OEM brake pad material is on their new cars.

Ceramic Brake pads work well at any temperature or weather conditions. I just had a thought. Why not call any major street brake pad company and ask them the percentage ratio of their sales between ceramic and metallic pads. For that matter, go to any major brake pad site and count the material break-down of pads they make.

Are Autozone’s Premium-Ceramic Brake-Pads as Good as what Came in my 2000 Z28?!?

I have 57k mi on my Z28. Yes, they are the Original Pads!! <:^D
(Highway Miles, Obviously!!)
I have Noticed that Recently they feel a little Different. No Squealing yet, but the Rotors look like the Area where the Pads Normally Rub appears abit smaller.

I know I should Change the Pads here this Spring, and I know how to do it.
But, where should I go to get New Pads, that will Last as Long as the Factory Pads did?!?

I am Aware that they are Probably Ceramic Pads, but the GM Dealer charges INCREDIBLY TOO Much for me to Justify Buying from Them.
I have Changed Brake-pads for People, and have Personally found Ceramic-Pads to Last Longer on Cars. The Pads I get for People come from AutoZone.

I know that there are Expensive Brake-Pads out there that are around $100 a Set, but I am wondering if they are Worth it.
At AutoZone, the Premium-Ceramic Pads are $60 a Set for the Front.

So Ultimately, are the AutoZone Ceramic Pads as Good as what Came with my 2000 Camaro Z28?!? What do You Recommend I use in my Factory Calipers?!?

yes, the cerammic pads will last longer than your factory ones will. ive seen many with over 65,000 on them and we have a fleet of gm trucks. its all i use on them now. you’ll be happy with autozones pads. i put them on both my vehicles too!! happy braking
