What should I do with a used set of brake pads?
Brake Pads August 4th, 2009Before the previous owner sold his Acura TL to me, he had the brakes changed. For some reason, he decided to keep the old Brake Pads and they are now in a small box in the back of the vehicle. I really don’t see a reason to keep them.
Are there people out there who would buy these used pads, or is there a possibility of recycling them somewhere?
Any chance of recycling? I’ll throw ‘em away if that’s a last resort.
chuck em, most reputable shops will return used parts as proof they changed em, atleast until(or if there is an issue)you develop a business relationship and trust with them.if a shop tells you they replaced something, ask for your old parts,to verify(when new customer)then just leave em.
how can i tell if the brake pads is low on a plymouth breeze?

Sell them on ebay, people training to be a mechanic who practice doing up cars and changing parts will be interested in buying them.

Throw them in the garbage. They are probably work and are worth nothing. Nobody in their right mind would want used pads because there is probably a reason they were changed. he probably kept the old pads because he didn’t want to be cheated by the auto shop, and wanted the old parts. It’s common for people to request their old parts, to prove that they needed them.

Throw them out. It is a good idea to ask for your old parts to verify the replacement, and to verify if the replacement was necessary.
By the way, the pad is the friction material glued to the metal backing plate. If the pad is thicker than 1/16th of an inch, they were replaced too early.
